I’m huge on starting out where you are. If you’re just starting out and wondering if where to find resources to create an online business on the cheap then check out the links below.
This site allows you do get a logo, video animation, SEO and even a website for $5 – OMG. Obviously with anything in life you get what you pay for so understand that this is a stepping stone to the kind of business brand you’re trying to create. Starting with a $5 is great, but realise that later down the line you’ll have to get professional branding help to take your business to the next level.
I’ve used this hosting servers for well over 6 years now. In connection with CloudFlare which secures your website and delivers it faster to your clients I highly recommend it. Being in NZ and usually tweaking my websites all hours of the night I’ve always needed to have a hosting provider that I could contact 24/7. Occasionally their wait times are terribly long but I’ve always managed to get help and quickly; including when my website was hacked and needed a backup!
If you’ve had your website for a while and wondering why you aren’t selling anything or why you’re not gaining any clients I highly recommend userTesting.com It essentially is a website where your targeting audience can create a video review of them looking and navigating your website. It will show you issues you have on your website that you may not have realised, which is easy for business owners are use to seeing their website on a daily basis!
There is a free option which you can test out first before committing to a set of video reviews. http://peek.usertesting.com/
Being able to have a live chat function on your website is a great way of increasing conversions on your website. Users want answers instantly and in a personal way. Chat function on websites allow you to chat to your customers in real time AND be able to do it from your smartphone. So any users who want questions asked instantly, while you’re out can do so using this tool.
Don’t have the time? That’s perfectly fine, you can simply create agent profiles and have your virtual assistant answer these questions for you.
Any open source website (WordPress, Drupal, Opencart, Magento, etc.) require some form of maintenance. WordPress for example requires constant updates on the system itself and the plugins. This is to ensure that they’re staying one step ahead of hackers for security and also to add awesome features to keep up with the ever changing pace of technology.
This is why you will always need to have someone who you can call on to update, fix or upgrade your website. Freelancer.com, elance or upwork are great websites to help find someone who is affordable to do these tasks for you.
I will also say that hiring someone here for free isn’t that straight forward. For one, I highly recommend not posting your website link unless you like to be hounded by developers or spammers trying to get your project or work. Instead simply turn the link into a bit.ly or minified link to ensure they copy and paste it and not have it traced by google when searching for your company.
And that’s it. You’re one step towards more freedom in your business by outsourcing the tasks required to run your online business; helping you get back to the things in your business you enjoy doing.
